The Closer’s 5^th season’s 11^th episode ‘Maternal Instincts‘ was mind blowing. You don’t believe me? Listen. Charlie was blown (shot dead) in this episode. This is a fact. So please take me seriously. Ha Ha. I Got you. The episode was aired on Monday, 17^th August. It focused on the difficulties faced by teenagers and the way parents deal with them. I learned from this episode that all the parents opt for what they think is the best way to up bring their child but everyone is not perfect. Some parents get too hard sort of human being with their children to keep them on the right track. They take this thing as a challenge and the results are not fruitful and leave them apart in their hearts. Parents must understand the feelings of their young ones and work on them accordingly, not in an orthodox manner but by providing them an encouraging environment and some liberty also. Everything does not suit everyone.

In “Maternal Instincts” a teenager, Vanessa gets pregnant from her boyfriend, Jake, sleeping with him voluntarily but lies to everyone that she was raped by him because of the fear of her authoritarian father and what her family would think about her character. At the end of episode, Jake, who gets injured severely in school car parking dies in hospital.

Parallel story in The Closer is of Brenda, who is not comfortable with her niece Charlie as a stand in parent. The way she behaves with Charlie does not make her relationship any stronger. She gets into an argument with Charlie regarding I-Pod and cell phones in car, when they find themselves spank in the middle of an active crime scene.

I really want to appreciate, director David McWhirter and writer Leo Geter of this episode of The Closer TV Show, who have very well presented the real situations going on in society these days.

‘The Closer‘, a very popular police drama series, revolves around Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson who is transferred from Atlanta to Los Angeles in order to head a new unit of the Los Angeles Police Department named ‘Priority Homicide’. This, somehow, very special unit deals with high profile murders and suicides etc and Brenda’s job is to tackle all these cases with a minimum of muss and fuss. Although, she often clashes with her colleagues due to her, sometimes, strange behavior, but her brilliant mind and special skills as a CIA trained interrogator help her get each job done.

When LAPD creates the new investigation unit, Priority Homicide, the Assistant Chief appoints Brenda (the very intelligent investigator and his former crush as well) as the Deputy Police Chief. It makes Capt. Taylor jealous of her because he was having very high hopes to be at the second highest rank in the department. She occasionally behaves like an absent-minded person and is very fond of junk food, but her brilliancy and sharpness tops the list which cause her to be appointed as the Deputy Police Chief in LAPD. Besides, her congenital ability to read the minds of others and get confessions from accused helps her and her team to solve city’s toughest, brain twisting as well as the most sensitive mysteries.

‘The Closer’ was premiered on June 13, 2005 and currently series is running with fourth season. Fourth season will run in two parts. First half is over and the second half will begin in Jan. 2009. During the fourth season, the investigation unit was renamed to Major Crimes Division and was re-tasked to handle rape and kidnapping etc cases also.
